Fine Art Reproductions

Giclée is a French word pronounced gee-clay. They take several hours to print as the microscopic spray drops are the same size as a red corpuscle. Some of the most prestigious museums are purchasing giclée reproductions of irreplaceable art pieces for public display.

A giclée is the next best thing to owning a Mackin original. They are printed on premium canvas with archival pigmented inks, and then are UV coated. Giclées can be stretched and framed the same way you would an original painting.

Dan Mackin personally inspects, hand signs, and numbers each canvas. Most of the giclées are offered in two sizes with a few being offered in as many as three sizes.

Artist proofs and Studio proofs are hand highlighted by Mackin and can be customized with a dolphin, boat, or turtle for example, to add a personal touch to your artwork.

INSPIRATION for Neighbors: When Jeanne and I spent our honeymoon in the Bahamas, I was impressed that houses there have names not addresses and I wanted to depict that in a painting but when I finished the houses, they were too far away to put the names on the houses. I was frustrated and could not figure out how to fix the problem. That night I had a dream that involved me rowing a boat in clear water.

The next day, I came up with the idea to paint a group of boats with matching colors of the houses and I could put the names of the houses on the boats. Then I got carried away and added the umbrellas for each house. It is one of the most detailed and labor intensive paintings I have ever done.
