Brian Wilson and Dan Mackin Collaboration Giclées

Dan Mackin is a world renowned artist who has captured his memories on canvas of his exotic sailing trips to the Caribbean, the Bahamas, the South Pacific, Asia, the rainforests of South America, and the beaches of were he surfed in Southern California. After his camera fell overboard on one of his first sailing trips in 1971 after he returned from Vietnam, Dan began sketching and then painting his worldwide sailing trips. An award-winning artist, with his work shown globally, Dan was elected to the Surfing Hall of Fame in 2001. Dan also has personally raised over one million dollars over the last 15 years for the National Kidney Foundation. Dan's work is simple, he takes us on a journey to paradise, every time his brush touches a canvas.

Surfer Girl
"Surfer Girl" Another early Brian Wilson classic. Dan and Brian talked about the perfect wave, a Surfer Girl hanging up her swim gear, kicking off her flip-flops, standing her board up and heading out for a swim. Dan Mackin feels this my be his most perfect wave that he has ever painted. When Brian saw the finished product, he remarked, "Dan, Surfer Girl knocks me out" "Man I Love it."

In My Room
"In My Room" One of Brian's early classic ballads written with Gary Usher. The song goes "There's s Place where I can go and tell my secrets to...In My Room, In My Room..." Dan and Brian discussed showing paradise out one's window, with white sheer curtains blowing out, The only problem was how does one paint white see-through sheer curtains. After a brief stop to the fabric store to actually buy white sheer fabric to study, Dan figured this out and painted a masterpiece that evokes the feeling of this Brian Wilson song.

God Only Knows
"God Only Knows" This was started BEFORE it became the theme song for HBO's new hit show "Big Love". Brian states "there was a spiritual feeling all around the recording of Pet Sounds in the studio". Dan then asked how does a church appear on a remote paradise type island all alone like this? Well the end of the rainbow brings forth a spiritual miracle. Dan also included two dolphins swimming together, as Dan says "dolphin mate for life". Both Dan and Brian's questions are answered with "God Only Knows"
