Disney has created their Legacy Program where about 30 fine artists around the world have been given licenses to paint Disney characters in their artwork. The artists have to submit sketches for approval and when the artwork is finished, it is shipped to Disney for corrections or approval. It is a long process, as the Disney animators are very particular about the character's attire, poses, and activities and each image has to tell a story.
